Our compulsory components
Component 1 Devising Theatre is worth 40%: create original theatre from the approved stimulus using a chosen practitioner or genre, realise it and evaluate your contribution. Component 2 Performing from a Text is worth 20%: realise a coherent interpretation using sections of two extracts from a contrasting play. Component 3 Interpreting Theatre is a 90-minute written examination worth 40%.
Our Section A choice is Noughts & Crosses. Eduqas specifies Malorie Blackman's story adapted by Sabrina Mahfouz, published by Nick Hern Books. Study the complete play practically as actor, designer and director. Take the required clean published copy into the examination. Section A covers the extract and wider text; Section B asks you to analyse and evaluate a qualifying live production.
Use the actual annual stimulus, chosen practitioner or genre, approved contrasting Component 2 text and live production supplied by your teacher. No such school choices are invented here. The Component 2 text must contrast in playwright, historical time period and theme under Eduqas's table. Section B must use a different text from Section A, not peers' work; actual live attendance must meet the centre's arrangements.
There are no tiers. DR codes organise topics here; they are not component entry codes. Short checks support knowledge, while practical skills, authentic NEA and extended writing require your own evidence and teacher judgement. Original diagrams are teaching schematics, not prescribed production designs.
